My first and last year of being Miss Kings student

Being Miss Kings student was a very cool thing. What I liked doing with Miss King was her teaching us what we did not know. I wish Miss king all the best and wish her a very Merry Christmas. Have a happy new year. I will miss you so much Miss King!!!

Netbook Reflection

What I like about my netbook is playing games. I also like commenting on other peoples blogs. But my favourite thing has to be sharing my work with other people.


What I hate about the Internet is that it takes for long to load. Sometimes I get distracted by games when I am doing my work. What I also hate is that when I am doing my work it tries to reach google.


The differences about a netbook and a pencil and paper is that your hand get hurt when you write and you have to cross the word that you made a mistake with or rub it of. But when you use a netbook it is easier.


The hardest thing was getting distracted by games so I do not think I have been in the right place. The greatest challenge for me is doing what my teacher tells me on my netbook.


I would feel bad and if I was using pencil and paper I would suck it in and keep on working. But I might also feel a little bit angry.

Stardome

Sliding down the mountain I touched poo. Help! No one paid attention to me. Nooo!!! Sheep were close by as, I stood up and ran down the hill. Finally I got down but I bumped into wood and tripped. As I was closer to the sheep's they ran away.

King Kong and Slugs

Stupid King Kong was knowingly embarrassed. Knowingly embarrassed stupid King Kong cried. Embarrassing his friend knowingly, stupid King Kong felt bad. Knowingly embarrassed, stupid King Kong roared, and blew his friend away.

Creepy slugs unfortunately attempted to dance. Attempting to dance creepy slugs unfortunately tripped over. Unfortunately, while attempting to dance, creepy slugs scared there friends. Creepy slugs unfortunately attempted to sing to.

Alien Snot

Yuck! Slimy and smelly alien snot running down my hand. In classroom 13 we made alien snot.

The method for making alien snot is a bowl, a spoon, cornflour. a little bit of water, and green food coloring. First you have to pour some cornflour and water in the bowl and mix it. Then you pour some green food coloring in to and mix it again. Then you will have a sticky and icky alien snot.

While my team mates were mixing a little water with the cornflour and green food coloring it turned hard and it kind of smelt disgusting. My job was to look at it and see if it felt good.

What the snot felt like was like rock and it looked like play dough. As I put it on my hand it felt slimy. In the bowl it was hard and it was goopy.
Alien snot was the most DISGUSTING thing I have ever made.

Ice Cream Comets

“Yum yum” I said. Miss King told us we were going to make some ice cream comet. She even said that we were gonna put ice cream on our hand. “Disgusting” I whispered to myself.

As Miss King scooped a little bit of chocolate ice cream on my hand it dripped through my fingers. It was icy cold.
I went to Lesieli and she gave me some crushed biscuits, and some sprinkles. There were hundreds and thousands of colourful sprinkles. Next I said to Whaea Janeille “Can you give me a cone please?”

The ice cream felt yuck in my hand and so slimy. I rolled it into a ball, sprinkles were stuck on my fingers, I felt like licking them. “Mmm” they tasted minty.

Delicious! I tasted the ice cream comet and it was yummy. There were different textures on my tongue. The tail for the comet was the cone and the comet rock was the chocolate ice cream.

Such and tasty, yet icy treat.

Lift Off

A bright intense flame from the rocket lit up into the night sky. I was filled with nervous excitement. Sweat was falling from my nose as I was ready to go on the dangerous adventure in my space shuttle.

Preparing to launch I was filled with anticipation. “Ignition” the call said and I felt my stomach shuddering. Whispering to myself I was very scared “I wonder what it is going to be in space?”

Cutting through the sky the bottom of the rocket was filled of flames. A trail of smoke was left behind. The rocket launched and it sounded like an explosion.

Going up to space I really missed earth already. But maybe exploring space might be fun!

Immersion Assembly

Wow! I said to my self there are heaps of people here. We went to the hall for immersion assembly. It was about space. Yesterday was our assembly. Mr Burt introduced the topic.

My favourite item was the space rap about planets. The rap was my enjoyable one because they were wearing funny costumes.

This term I hope were learning about the names of the planets. What exciting about the planets names is that there interesting.

From Immersion Assembly Term 4 2011

Sonny Bill Williams

Sprinting with the ball Sonny Bill Williams past it accurately. Strongly he was steeping the other team. Anxiously sprinting with the rugby ball he scored a try.

What did I enjoy?
What I enjoyed this term was maths. I enjoy it because it is fun. It is fun because we learned different stuff. The different stuff I have learnt is fractions and times table.

Thing’s I don’t enjoy?
What I did not enjoy this term was Aussie Rules. I did not enjoy it because I could not bounce it.

What did I learn?
What I learnt this term was fractions. It was fun learning it with Whea Genial.

How do I feel about my term overall?
I felt amazed and sad. Because we learnt heaps and heaps of work. The heaps of work we learnt was reading, writing and maths.

What did I found most interesting?
What I found most interesting was maths whizz. I found math whizz interesting because I learn different stuff.

What could I have done better to help my learning?
Doing a lot of stuff and practising everyday.

Warriors aginst Manly Sea Eagles

Me anga tatou ki te rekareka - Let’s have some fun! Rugby league brings people together. This was a very cool game that I have not missed. If you are are rugby league fan you would be so happy if you watched it.

While walking to the field the mighty strong warriors sang the National Anthem at the Aussie, Sydney stadium. So lucky that the game was on Saturday. “YEAH” My sister shouted “Manu Vatuvae scored the first try for the warriors”.

I felt unhappy that they lost there game. I bet the warriors are unhappy to. Manly Sea Eagles might be very happy that they won.

Having to watch rugby was a cuite cool thing to do in the weekends.

Alfajorcitos

Mmmm huele los alfajorcitos tan riquisimo.
Yesterday Miss King taught room13 how to make some alfajorcitos - an Argentinian treat.

Alfajorcitos can be made very huge and can’t even fit in your mouth. Miss King loved them so much she wanted to share it with us. Alfajorcitos are from Argentina.

What we need for alfajorcitos is dulce de leche, biscuits, and coconut. We grabbed two biscuits then we spread the dulce de leche on it and we rolled it in to the coconut. When we started eating it, it was yummy.

What I experienced of making and eating alfajorcitos was sweetness on my taste buds. The dulce de leche was tasty and it even tasted like caramel. The dulce de leche was gooey, sticky and runny to. I really enjoyed it.

The alfajorcitos was yummy in my tummy.

Aussie Rules

Down on the field near the cold and windy trees Megan and Allysa were ready to teach us some Aussie Rules skills. “WOHOO” I shouted, a break from class.

What I experienced about the changeable weather in New Zealand is that there are four seasons in a day. At first it rains but then the unpredictable weather changes and it becomes sunny. I mean what a special country we live in, “RIGHT!”

Having to learn skills from Aussie rules is fun but already I know a few like,bouncing the ball, drop punt and more. The skill that we practiced was bouncing the AFL ball. We started off by bending our knees, then we stood up after we were walking and running.

Kicking Base ball is like normal Base ball but you have to kick it instead of bating it. With the instructions stuck in my brain I knew just how the game go’s. As you kick the ball and the fielders catches it then your out. I felt proud of my self because I kicked the ball and nobody caught it so I made a home run just like Base ball.

Even with the changeable weather, we still learnt skills from Aussie Rules.

Jonah Lomu

JONAH LOMU
Jonah Lomu was the first global superstar in rugby. He debuted for the All blacks in 1994. Jonah played 63 games for the All Blacks. Jonah was an intimidating player. In 1995 Jonah Lomu had kidney problems.. In 2003 Jonah Lomu had dialysis. Jonah Lomu is 196cm tall. He played for the Hong Kong and wellington but then he said "I want to go play for the All Blacks again". He is a intimadating player and he impact on the game.

Badminton

As we served the shuttle It was soaring in the air like a bird. It was fun and enjoyable. We hit the shuttle accurately. I did a powerful hit so I can go overhead. Even though I swung the racket heaps of times, I kept missing the shuttle. Thea and Me were working as a team. Donna teaches me how to whack it if it come and I got better and better. As soon I served it to Thea again she stopped it and tryed to serve the shuttle to me but she couldn't so she just threw it and we kept on going.

Moving on to the next task was four hand and back hand we had to do it by our self. How to do it is put your hand left and right and you keep on going. It was frustrating for me because I hand to do quick body movements.

After we played badminton soccer but first Donna teaches us how to play it. When we new how to play it we began the game. We always have to do it overhead but to serve we do underhand. The game was better then the first one. Thea and Me Had the same score by then she had four and I had three. Thea scored the fist one.

Healthy Food

Children should eat a variety of different food to be healthy.
Our brains will work if you eat healthy food.
We should really eat healthy food so we can keep on growing.


We need to balance our diet from the four main food groups.
They are:
Bread and CerealsFruit and VegesMilk and DairyMeat and FishWe need to eat a little bit of every thing.
Fats and sugar can be eaten occasionally but there amount should be limited. Water and milk are good for everyday. Juice and fizzy should be left for treats.
Eat the right food and live right. In order to live a happy life, eat a well balanced diet.

Buzzy Bee And Jandals

Ki Ora and welcome to NZ a very unique country fulled with treasured icons. Many years ago NZ was close to Australia.

The New Zealand Buzzy bee is the children's most famous toys. The colour of the bee is red, yellow, blue and black. The exact origins of buzzy bee remain a little unclear. It seem the bee was made in the very late 1930’s in a small workshop.

Welcome to New Zealand it is a Very Small country we have different cultural as we have different people They have came from the country and lands to. The rugby world cup is on the 9Th of September 2011.We are an isolated island just below Australia.

Jandals are some thing like you can wear to the beach when it is hot and if it is hot in a city then you can wear them.They are made from rubber and on top it has cool pictures.For when it is summer it has cool colourful pictures and has lost of colours on it. Sometimes jandals are called slippers.


We hope you find many of these treasured icons on your way to the Rugby World Cup.

William Webb Ellis

At Rugby School they played football. Players are allowed to hold the ball, but not run with it. There was no fixed limit of players. any number of players can play on the field. this caused lots of major injuries.

William ran with the ball in 1823 towards the opposition’s goal. In 1845 Rugby School wrote the first set the rules for rugby.

Immersion Assembly

I was so excited to see it and it was a amazing movie. The part I really liked in the movie was how they were acting as different people and it was so funny.

Meuseum

What did you do on Sunday? Guess what on Sunday evening half of the school went to the I Am Making Movies 2 at the Auckland Museum. We all met between 4:00 and 4:45 pm. I was so excited as we hopped in the bus and sat with my friends. We were talking as we were in the bus and we all had fun. I sat next to my friends and finally we got there! As we were there I looked at it and it looked like the white house! Mary was so excited and she was shouting “hey that looks like the white house.”

When we were in we had to wait for like 5 minutes then we went up and the sits were all full then we sat down and listen. We saw Charlie from what now and he was speaking.

We were counted in the category Best Production. We were really excited when our classes movie had showed up then we were shouting out loud. We won the Best Production and Laiter was shouting out yay we won the Best Production. When Charlie said Don’t Forget Your Root Best Production we ran on the red carpet and up the stage. Mrs Tele’a was filming us as we went up the stage. Gloria and Rocky was going to talk.

Swimming

This year I tried to improve my swimming. My next swimming goal is to try get better at back stroke. I liked swimming but I did not swim on the last day of swimming.

Future

As they hopped in the car they took off. Jennifer said “are you guys insane?” I am scared and want to go home. Jennifer felt scared. Marty was looking at them talk wondering what they were talking about. Doc toed Jennifer “none of my inventions had failed before” just trust me Jennifer. As Doc was speaking he was eating. At the end of the clip they landed on the future.

Back to the Future

The wheels screeched as the car reversed out of the driveway.Marty said “Hey Doc," we better back up, we don’t have enough road to get to 88. Marty felt terrified. Jennifer stayed still and did not know what she was doing. Doc said “Roads. Where we are going we don’t need any roads.” Doc adjusted his glasses as he spoke. The lights flashed as they blasted off to future.

Our Friends from Wake Forest University

Our friends from Wake Forest University came to our school for a visit they stayed here for a week.Meagan stayed in room13 for the hole week. The students from Wake Forest wanted to be teachers and they came to learn to be one. Zealand to. Meagan came to help some people in room 13.

Bike Project

We made this movie this term I was so enthusiastic when I heard that we were going to draw a bike and write about so we made it like a animation I added some details so it can be perfect and make it look nice if you look at the video the bike is going to splash in the water. I t had some details when it went on the water if you watch it and you think it is amazing well then thanks. If I was someone else I would comment on it because it really cool I am so happy that I am putting it on my blog.

Rube Goldberg,Technology

Guss what!!!Last Friday we made a marble run we made it out of cardboard and some dominoes. In my group was Lesieli,Laita,Chyna,Flora and Wakatere and me but then I did my own marble run and they all went away and write about it on the computer. When I was doing my own marble run I was trying and trying and trying until it can work but I was still tried and I was trying a lot so it can work and I never gave up I tweaked heap of stuff but it was a little thing to tweak. It was a lot of fun doing the marble run. When my marble run worked Miss King and I were so so happy. It was fun when I was working with my team because we were planing and trying to make the marble run work but then when they went I was so bored and then miss King said that I have to change a little bit more so it can work. When I was doing my marble run go it was still fun because I was still talking to a person. When it had worked my hands were tiered and my back was sore. My groups slide was just normal like the slide that people slide on the park. The dominoes were just small and it is the color black and the dots are white. We made the slide out of hard cardboard. On our Rube Goldberg,technology we changed what did not work because it took along time to do it because we kept on failing. We solved our little problems.

Tornado at North Shore Albany

Yesterday there was a huge tornado and it had hit Albany in north shore. All this happened in the afternoon and it was a adverse weather event that caused massive chaos. The tornado caught a tramp and it went up on the roof of a house. The tornado kept on twisting and going towards the buildings. People who saw the tornado panicked as it was such a big fierce wind.

The damage was dangerous like a earthquake but scary then an earthquake. The tornado was like a disaster and it was serious.

Straw Tower

Today we started doing straw tower and we were using materials.Why we did it is

My friends and I were thinking together and being creative.Room Thirteen were trying to build a big tall house.My team was trying to make it balance by stable.The whole room thirteen were challenging.

The group that was beside my group was planing what they should do with there straw tower. When they got it they did it straight and tall.

The first group that won was and Jabez’s.The second was Kashya’s and Gloria’s. But the third one was Sela’s and mine.

Meteor

A meteor exploded in the night sky and was seen from as far north as Auckland to as far south as Wellington. This event happened around 11 pm last night. The boom illuminated the sky and flashed with blue and white brilliant light.

Space

Is there life on moon?No because there is no air & no water.
In 1969 three men went to the moon,they took there own air and some of there own food and there own big drink bottle.The three men that were around the moon,and the other men left two of them and he went by his self and when he went and then came back he came with soil.

Year 5/6 Camp

Today we went to have a good look at the camp.The first thing we saw was the cooking and serving tents.Inside the cooking serving tent were the helper that does there food and they are really good cooker .The people who were inside there were Bobby and Miss Samuel and other people.We were being nosey!

The Second thing we saw was the Marquee we went and walked around the tents.There are three people that sleep in each tant and if they get lost they can look at the name tag.

After that we went to Whaea Raewyn and we saw th damper and it smelt funny but it was kind of ok.

I am looking forward for next year because I am going to be a year 5.It is going to be fun for me next year because I am going to camp.

Japan Earthquake and Tsunami

The surging wall of water caused a 8.9 Magnitude earthquake and destroyed northern Japan’s coastline and it even destroyed the houses.This man is a survied and he heard that there was a tsunami coming and then he went up to the hills and he even went back to his house to get more stuff so he can survive when the earthquake or tsunami comes and then the tsunami just came and he was sleeping and the tsunami put him on top of the roof and when he woke up he never new that the tsunami put him on top of the roof and he went in the ocean and he went 20 mile away and then the earth quake came and he still survived.

Capture the Flag

Diving for the trophy, team 4 scurried like little rats all over the field. Teams tried hard to distract each other. As we dashed over the line, our hands waved in triumph.

CINDERELLA picture

Letter to Christchurch

Dear Christchurch,
I am so sad for all of your family’s lost and it is so sad for New Zealand because some of the parent’s are here and the kids are there.I hope that the kids parent’s are alright and there parent’s Mum and Dad.If the kid parents are passed away then we will support all of you Christchurch and we can help because New Zealand loves all of you and if the other people were pregnet and they had there baby was born on that day that you had the earth quake and then the baby passed away I will really feel sorry for the baby so much.

Chirstchurch Earth Quake

On Tuesday 22nd February 2011,Christchurch was shaken by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, at 5km deep, at 12.51pm.The earthquake at Christchurch caused a great deal of damage.

The earthquake was a disaster, like a volcano, but this earthquake destroyed the whole of Christchurch city. Big dust clouds choked the city, thankfully when it rained the dust settled slightly.

Damage on the roads and the drive ways caused by liquefaction and cracks, has caused many traffic jams. Some cars even crashed and parked fell from the car park way up high.

On the news, a woman had heaps of blood on her face and two people carried her to get help, because they cared about her. Another man had blood on his head and it got wrapped with a white bandage.

Many people in Christchurch have passed away, we still don’t know how many people, but I hope that my prayer tonight will help Christchurch. Houses have been destroyed and so lots of people are sleeping in their cars and in local parks.

A great deal of the buildings in Christchurch are destroyed and nearly every body has been effected. The people that have rescued the others, have put in so much good effort. They are respected and amazing.

Cinderella

On a starry night under the full moon, Cinderella and her Charming Prince danced slowly until the clock struck midnight.

In a most enchanted place, under the full moon and beside the water fall, Cinderella and her Charming Prince danced through the night.

On an enchanting night, Cinderella danced with her charming prince while the birds flew beside them watching too.

Base-ball

Yesterday after lunch time we went strayt to Cola to practis how to play Base-ball and the blue team had to catch the ball and the red team was wacing the ball and then we switched and I did’nt wait to wace the ball and when Isia waced the ball the bat did’nt touch the ball and the bat nearly got of his hands and I new why he could’nt bat the ball cause he is to small and it could of hitin someones head and even when he was tring to catch the ball to the ball hit on his knee


yesterday after lunch room thirteen went strayt to Cola and as soon as we got there we sat down and then he told us how to play it the game. After Cola told us how to play the game Miss King was taking viedio and she even took picters to and she shoot the picters propily and it was amazing.When Miss King finished taking pics and viedios we started playing the game and the game was really fun and I hope we ply it today and if we play it today again I will be so exsited.

Netbook Day

First in the morning Mr Burt and Mrs Burt told us the instruction how to use the netbook and how to turn it on.Today Mrs Burt told us to open the netbook and when I first saw it I had a really happy face and when Mary saw it to she kissed it.When Mrs Burt gave out the paper to every one they where geting exsited and when I got mine I read it and I have to be risponsible and I better not leave my netbook on the chair because Mrs Burt told us.

I am having a netbook

I am so enthusiastic for tomorow because I am geting a net book and I can chat with people around the world and I can chat with my family and cousins only if they have a laptop, computer or a netbook. So if I want to talk with my casin that gone to samoa I can and if I go to samoa on apiril and I take my netbook then I will chat with someone else here at New Zealand like my mum,my dad,my sistser and my nana and my grandpa aad even my auntie and my baby brother.
