About the Kardashians and the Jenners

Kardashians and the Jenners. I'm guessing you know them?? Well, they are the famous family of the reality show of Keeping up with the Kardashians (KUWTK). It comes on 11 every Sunday, feel free to watch it.

There are 3 Kardashians and 2 Jenners, all of them are from the same mum but different dads. The 3 Kardashians (Kourtney, Kim and Khloe) dad is Robert Kardashian, and the Jenners (Kendall and Kylie) dad is Bruce Jenner.

The parents have sons as well, but only one Kardashian brother (Rob) and 2 other Jenner brothers (Brandon and  Brody). If you didn’t notice, all the females names start with a ‘K’ and the males start with the letter ‘R’.

Kourtney Kardashian is the oldest of them all and she is 35. She was born in 1979 on April the 18th, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Kourtney is a mum of 2 and there names are Penelope (girl) and Mason (boy) and is now pregnant to the 3rd one. Her partner is Scott Disick and they have been together since 2007, which means they have been together for 7 years now.

Kim Kardashian. Well, I got to say, she is the most popular one out of all the Kardashians and the 2nd oldest of all of them. Kim is a 1980’s women and was born on October the 21st, yes, she is now 34. She is a model, a fashion designer and she has also been acting a little bit. When Kim was young she predicted what would happen when she grew up, and it was true. She said she wanted to be famous, and now she is. Kim has 1 child (North West) and her hubby/husband (Kanye West).

Lucky last of the Kardashian, Khloe. I gotta tell you, she is my favourite because she isn’t too judgmental and she ain't full of negativity. It was in 2009 she married Lamar Odom the basketball player and divorced in 2013. She is now going out with the star French Montana. He is a former rapper. Khloe isn’t only on Keeping up with the Kardashians, she also use to be on X factor, Kourtney and Khloe take the Hamptons, All-star Celebrity Apprentice and Fashion police with her owns show Khloe & Lamar.

Now the Jenners. The 19 year old Kendall Jenner is one of the 2 Jenners and is the oldest of them. With her birthday in November the 3rd (which was only a few day ago) and was also born in Los Angeles, California, United States of America. She is 1.78 m tall, which is the highest height of all of the Jenners and the Kardashians. Kendall isn’t only a reality show star but she is a model and she also writes books. Her book she wrote with Kylie (younger sister) is called “Rebels: City of Indra: The story of Lex and Livia”.

Last but not least, Kylie Kristen Jenner. She is also my other favourite but no explanation given. She is a young show star that appears on E and is a book writer that also wrote “Rebels: City of Indra: The story of Lex and Livia”, like I mentioned before. With the age of 17, she was born in 1997 and in August 10 was her birthday. This means she is still attending school and her education is Sierra Canyon School.

If you didn't know the Kardashians or the Jenners before you read my story, well you are lucky, because now you know them, RIGHT!

60 word story about The Cat in the Hat

There is a cat that live on the road and found a hat that a man had owned. But the cat didn't know someone owned it because it was lying around, the man that owned the hat then knew he dropped his hat. So the man found it and put it on his head with the cat in the hat.

Film Festival at Sylvia Park

Film Festival. Its tomorrow at Sylvia park in Cinemas. It will be heaps of fun, I've actually been there a lot of time and its because I always present. Our whole school is going to watch the other films. Our side is so lucky because we’re the only ones that get the opportunity to go to Sylvia park and watch it on the xtreme screen.

If your going to be there hopefully you’ll see me present.  I am a presenter for my movie I made with two of my friends in extension. It’s about a girl and that can’t help but look at her phone, that is all i’m giving out.  If you really want to watch our amazing movie (joking), then make sure you’ll be there.

Thank you letter - Museum Trip

Dear Parents/Teacher,

I would like to say thank you for helping us for our trip to the museum. Thank you for taking your time off! You really helped us because if it weren't for you, we wouldn’t of been able to go and enjoy ourselves.

You also took us where we wanted to go not only that but we also got to go outside! It was fun because we also got to be with our friends and talk a lot, and we also got to go to the volcano eruption(even though we weren’t suppose to)!

And to the teachers, thank you for providing this museum trip for us, it was nice. We all enjoyed it and I would like to thank you once again for taking us, I would like to visit there again.

Auckland Museum Trip

First day back to school from our labour weekend and it rocked. The intermediate got the opportunity to get ready for.....Our Museum trip, sounds fun right! We went to the museum to learn about art because our topic this term is Art Attack (like I said on my very first post I posted this term).

As soon as we got there we ate straight away. It wasn't that fun but until we finished we had a tour but this was to draw a picture that has flax (harakeke). I drew a really nice one. Once we drew our flax picture we moved on and drew any maori thing we saw in front of us.

I drew a tiki and there were heaps of patterns on it. I also entered a marae, but before we all had to take off our shoes. I then got out of it and went to a mini waterfall that had instruction which said "You are invited to wash your hand" so I did and it felt fresh.

My group all finished washing our hands and then we were on our way to the volcano house (where we experience what a volcano feels like). It was quite packed but we also learnt what to do when it happens and how it does. It shook and 1 of my friends cried a little.

I enjoyed it because of the art that was in the museum, and I also got to touch some of it. After we finished checking out the inside of the museum, we went outside and took different pictures of anything!

We also saw a mini water fountain and it was pretty cool. All of our groups walked on to it and most of us fell. We also got to read about it and who made it. Once we felt the water we also got ready to go to the domain, but we didn't because it rained.

It was actually fun and I especially enjoyed it because I was with my friends. I'd love to to visit there again!

This is a photo of a tiki, I like it because it showes the patterns I like and how its designed.

In the marae I saw this photo so we took a picture of it because its a maori design. It also suits the colour of how it is made.

The photo right on the left represents the waka where we saw the tivaevae and I also got to touch it!

This represents a bag which was made out of flax/harakeke, and we were suppose to draw of something that is made of flax/harakeke so I sort of drew the design that is on this bag.

Last but not least, this is of the museum, yes I know it doesn't look too fancy but if you visit inside, you'd love it!

About rugby

Intro
Keeping the ball safe
Defending your opponents
The Positions
Conclusion

How do you play rugby?

Have you ever tried playing rugby, or even wanted to play rugby? But you don’t even know how to play? Well here is an explanation of how to play rugby. When I was year 5 I started playing sports like rugby and it was the best sport I first played. so I went for it and now I know how to play. So if you want to know, read my explanation and find out heaps!

If your team has the ball and you are holding it you have to run and hold it like it means everything to you. You know you want to score a try or win for your team, so you have to step your opponents or at least run where you won’t get tackled. You’ve got to put the ball under your armpit, and run as fast as you can or use your skills and past the ball to your other team-mates.

Defending your team is very hard, so avoid what you think is weak and go hard for the difficult ones. You have to tackle hard and if they step you just keep on chasing because you never know what will happen. Because if they slow down you can probably tackle them just before they try, so go hard!

There are supposed to be 15 people on each team, so that's 30 all together! 2 Props, 2 Rowers and Flankers, Centre, 2 Wings, Full - Back, 2 Locks, Half - Back, and Scrum half with number 8. It’s also hard to remember where you are standing, but you’ll get used to it.

Now that you know the things I know, I hope you’ll know how to play the game when you trial for rugby or when you play with your friends. When you you first play the game it will feel like you just finished getting a hiding, but if you keep going you’ll get use to the feeling.

Cross Country Recount 2014

I was extremely anxious as our annual school event came. We would always practice, practice and practice. I wasn't nervous at all, but as soon as our Cross Country hit, I got butterflies.

Our whole school assembled at the netball courts, just near the outside toilets by the field. We gathered to get ready for the year 1 boys to have their run. It started at 1:00pm, but just before they ran, the house captains had to do their house cheers.

As soon as all the year 1 boys to the year 5 girls finished it was our turn up next. “I’m scared” I explained as I was shaking, but Mr J already called up the year 7 girls. We waited for 2 minutes till the year 5 girls passed by.

Get ready, get set, BANG! As the blocks hit each other. Jogging slow I was coming last, but then I pasted a lot of girls and it was still our first round. I ran as slow as I could so I could have enough energy to run as fast as I could when i’m near the end.

I got to my second lap and so far I was enjoy it but was really tired. I caught up to my friend Asena who I was actually expecting to come first but she was just in 6th place. I told her that I’d stay with her and that i’ll also cross the line together so we were near the end.

So far I was beating Asena F. But then I just stopped for her and we crossed the line coming in 7th place. This was her very first time she came 7th because she has always came 1st every year she started running the cross country.

Explanation Writing

Iron - Term 3 Writing Sample
6 paragraphs
1 - Hook
2 - Mind
3 - Body
4 - Drugs
5 - Alcohol/Drugs
6 - Conclusion

Have you ever wondered why your mind and body is important? Well this is based on why taking care of your body and mind is very important to you. Its about how healthy you eat and what you have learnt for your whole life.

Taking care of your mind is about focusing on what your learning and doing what you're suppose to do. You have to feed it with what your have learnt and you can not take drugs. Its bad for yourself and all you have to do is listen.

To take care of the body all you got to do and play the right way, right place and with the right attitude (if you're still a child). Its all about keeping your body healthy and feeding it with the right food. This is all about taking drugs as well, it affects your body badly and can make you unconscious.

Drugs is what makes the mind stop you from focusing on what the teacher is saying. e.g if the teacher was to tell you to go do some writing and as soon as you run off you go and do maths. See what I mean? It also slows down what your mind is telling you.

Alcohol is a kind of drug and it can make mixed emotions and it will also affect anyone anywhere. Its just like a ripple in the water, it first starts off with affecting your family and friends and then it becomes bigger a bigger problem and affect the community/public.

There are all sorts of drugs and any one of them can affect any part of your body. It especially affects the inside of you which are the lungs and the heart so choose the right choice and keep in mind, if you ever take any sort of drug and I mean any sort, it can lead to death. Drugs don’t choose people, people choose drugs.

Teach at Tamaki - Hard Material

Having technology is amazing! Each week we go to Tamaki College to have tech. There are three subjects, hard material, food tech, and graphics. They're all fun but, the first technology the year 7’s (class 2, 4 and 1) had was hard material.

For each subject we get 13 weeks and one day a week. All classes that go on Thursdays have to walk. The things we do at hard material is to make a steal shape e.g a steal cross or bird.

First we had to fill out a form of what shape we wanted. We then had find some silhouet photos of what we wanted our necklace to be. Our tech group also had to write who it was for  e.g our mum/brother. I was about to make the necklace for my mum but I was making it for me.

As soon as we got the first part of our form done, we had to get a Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) to draw the picture of our final design. I chose a cross and it was suppose to be shaded, so we had to print our design and shade the back to draw onto the MDF.

Once its drawn on the MDF you have to write your name on top and then you cut it out with the scroll saw. It was quite hard cutting it cause my the picture of the cross that I drew on the Medium-density fibreboard had sharp corners. As soon as I finished cutting it out we had to get two thick MDF’s and tie it with a rubber band so Mr Grundy (Hard Material teacher) can put the melted pewter in.

It was done and then it dried up, so I took off the thick MDF’s and it was a nice cross shape. Once we took it out we had to file it until it gets smooth. I finished filling it and then we had to sandpaper it. Grits - 180, 400 and 1200 and you also have to sandpaper it hard to get a great finish.

As soon as all the sandpapering is finished, you have to water sandpaper is and then you have a great finish. Once the whole sandpapering is finished as well as the water sandpaper, you have to get it polished real good. Then you finished and you add a string through the hole and then you’ve got it all polished.

I enjoyed having  hard material with Mrs Grundy! Thank you the Mr Grundy for finishing my necklace for me and I hope you now know how to make a nice and polished necklace.

How to play rugby! (About Rugby)

How to play rugby!

Have you ever tried playing rugby, or even wanted to play rugby? When I was year 5 I started playing sports and rugby was the best sport so I went for it and I know how to play. So if you want to know, read my explanation and find out!

If your team has the ball you have to hold like its a treasure. You know you want to score a try or win for your team, so you have to dodge your opponents or at least run where there is space. You’ve got to control the ball, and run as fast as you can or us you skills and past the ball to your other team-mates.

Defending your team is very hard, so avoid the weak point and go for the difficult ones. You have to tackle hard and is they step you just keep on chasing because you might not know they will stop or you might catch up to them, so go for it!

For each team, there are suppose to be 15 people on each side, so that's 30 all together! 2 Props, 2 Rowers and Flankers, Centre, 2 Wings, Full - Back, 2 Locks, Half - Back, and Scrum half with number 8.

Now that you know everything about rugby, well at least the things I know, I hope you’ll know how to manage it when you try it out sometime! Its tiering and hurtful but your get use to it once you play one game, it will feel like a hiding!

Explanation - Smart footprint (Cyber Smart)

Smart footprint. What is it? Its not only about walking on the beach and leaving your footprint on the sand, it's also about what you do on the Internet! Its all about being cyber smart and thinking very smart!

Wherever you will be on the Internet it will leave your footprint, and also your name. Whether you are signed in or not, it will always leave your name because of what computer you're on or where you are! Its whatever site you go on.

If you're a child, your teachers can see what your on, like either a game, writing or doing your maths work they can all see what your upto on teachers dashboard. Not only your teachers see what you do at school, your parents also see what you do.

One amazing thing about the Internet is about sharing videos and photos online for everyone to see! They either respond or just watching and see. But whether its a smart or stupid photo, anyone around anywhere can see what you posted, just like this story.

Wherever you go online it shows what your on, so make sure you're on the right thing at the right time with the right attitude! Its going to show your name, so think positive!

How to make my favourite meal (Pancakes)

What's your favourite meal and tell me why? Well mine is pancakes and I love making it! If you don’t know how to make pancakes, well this explanation of mine is based on how I make it!

First things first, you have to get all your things ready. The stuff to make it with and also all the ingredients. Of course water, flour and sugar for extra! You first have to get a bowl, either small or big, but I prefer big, and at least pour 2 to 3 cups of water into it!

As soon as you’ve poured all the water into the bowl, pour 2 cups or 2 1/2! You then mix it until it dissolves so it can be nice and soft in the pan! Just before pouring the mixed flour and water into the pan, spray the pan with a little bit of cooking oil.

Once you’ve got all your pancakes sorted, you finally have the chance to add sugar. You can add some sugar in with the flour if you want, but I always add it all after its done. There all done and now its time to eat!

I’ve hope you have enjoyed frying your pancakes and hopefully they taste delicious. Do you mind if I join to eat? Kidding!!!! By the way, care to join me next time to see what I have in mind and ready for you!!

Explanation of Homemade Instrument ~ Shaker

Explanation of Homemade Instrument ~ Shaker

Task: Create instructions on how you will make your instrument including the materials needed, step by step instructions on what to do, and explanation as to how the sound is made.

This doc is a really rough outline for setting out your writing. You should use images and even video where appropriate.

Instrument: Shaker
Materials Needed:
Bottle
Rocks/Small balls
Instructions for Homemade Instrument:
  1. [First Instruction].... Get a bottle (e.g a powerade bottle)
  2. Refill it and clean it up and then get some mini balls or rocks.
  3. Put the rocks/balls in the bottle.
  4. Begin shaking it. What does it sound like?
Explanation of how sound is created:
Introduction: I’m going to explain how sound is made from this instrument and also how it works. Its a shaker and its real easy and fast to make!

Main reason: The reason why sound is loud from this shaker is because of the bottle! Its a plastic bottle and there are rocks/mini balls in it! Its really loud and its because the bottle is big and plastic.

Second reason: I created a shaker was because it was easy to create. Its also easy to carry around and easy to find the things to make it with, its simple, theres just rocks/mini balls and also one bottle or you either make a lot of shakers with less amounts of balls in each!

Third reason: The thing thats making the sound is the rocks. Its big and small. You pour the rocks in and you just start shaking. It may be loud but its a useful instrument and your like it!

Conclusion:
Now you can see how sound is made from a bottle with rocks or balls, and also how to make it! Its simple and you should try!

Why is swimming important?

Why is swimming important you ask? Well this story is based on ‘ Why is swimming important ‘. I hope you already know how to swim or learning how to swim because its good training and very important!

If it weren't for swimming, we wouldn't of known how to swim or we would've just been drowning in water every time we swim, that why its very important to know how to swim, and last week we took swimming lessons. It was for our school.

We took swimming because it was to see how well we swim or if we can swim. Another reason we took it because our families or friends don’t want us passing away, and that is why it important to know how to swim so if your out in the ocean you know how to come back to shore!

Samoan Language Week

Its Samoan language week and we performed a siva. This Samoan siva was for the minister ‘Sam Lotu-Iiga’ and for all of the Samoan people! Sam is the member of the New Zealand Parliament for the Maungakiekie.

First a girl named ‘Serenity’ had to do a prayer for us and to bless our day and then a boy ‘Christian’ welcomed Sam Lotu-Iiga to our school! We then had to leave and get ready to perform.

The Samoan group then went onto the stage and performed our hardest to make our people proud. We went hard out to also make our teachers and leaders. As soon as the girls finished the boys came on and shouted for our culture.

They soon finished and then the Tamaki College Samoan group performed, they didn’t only dance, they also sang a very nice song. When they finished Mr Burt (our principal) thanked us for that performance. We then finished everything and when for morning tea.

I’d just like to say thanks to Sam Lotu-Iiga for picking our school to perform for the Samoan language week. Your awesome and also a huge thanks to our teachers and leaders for supporting us that we can do the best!

How does a musical instrument create sound?

Intro: Guitars are one of the most popular instruments played in the world. Have you ever wondered how instruments create music? Well there is this one instrument and this story is based on a guitar.

Parts of a guitar: There are many parts on a guitar! From top to bottom there is a head, turning peg, nuts, fretboard and a position marker for the top part. The main bit of the guitar is the body which is what you put against your stomach. There is also a lump near the end of the guitar and its called a bridge. It’s to hold the strings!

How is sound created from a guitar?
So, your hand is on the metal wire and then soon you strum it. What it does is that the sound is produced by the vibration and then soon goes into the sound hole and rebounds back out making a louder sound. The further up the neck you go (when you press the strings) the higher the pitch will sound.

How to play a guitar:
A guitar can be used to be played from heavy metal to classical! Once you master a few basics it will be uncomplicated than any other instruments. You can play any songs that you like, once you get the chords and all that. If you got it then you start strumming so the sound you want is all that you have!

Conclusion: Guitars are quite easy to play.

Paper Experiment

Science experiment:

Question: What will happen to the sound if I change the shape of a piece of paper? (e.g. from a flat shape to a funnel shape)

Links to research about Sound:

Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think if the paper is all funnelled up it will be sound loud if your partner is talking from the front but if it is sideways it will sound a bit less louder! But if the paper is rolled up I think it will sound like its from far away and if its flat it will sound normal!

Materials needed:
Paper and Sellotape also cotton/tissue

Experiment (procedure):

e.g. Step 1 - Hold a flat piece of paper against your ear and block the other ear with your hand. Then get you partner to talk and you listen for how it sounds like.....Can you hear properly?

Step 2 - Then, roll the flat paper into a funnel shape. Put the funnel against your ear then face the funnel towards your partner and listen to them speak! What does it sound like now?

Step 3 -  Next, let your partner speak to your face but leave the funnel on your ear to see what it sound like now....Does it sound different than before??!!

Step 4 - Put a cotton ball/tissue into the funnel piece of paper and then listen to your partner if you can hear clearly. Is there a difference?

Step 5 - Roll the paper up and face one end of the paper roll towards your partner. Listen to your partner. Is there a difference to the sound you hear?

Step 6 - Finally, turn to the side with your paper roll and listen to your partner speak. What does it sound like now?

Data (What happened?)

Shape/object/materials
Results:
1
flat piece of paper
It just sounds normal, it didn’t make any differences
2
funnel facing towards your partner while they speak
The sound is really loud
3
funnel facing away from your partner (opposite side)
Its less louder from facing the front
4
tissue or cotton blocking the narrow end of the funnel
It is loud but sounds like something is blocking my ear!
5
rolled up piece of paper (facing to the front)
Loud just like when the paper is all funnelled up
6
rolled up piece of paper (facing to the side)
Less louder than before

Observations:
When it was a flat piece of paper, it sounds normal as usual
Funnel facing towards your partner while they speak, its actually really loud
As soon as the funnel is facing away from your partner (opposite side), it is less louder than facing it frontwards
If the tissue is tissue is blocking the narrow end of the funnel, its less louder from facing the front
A rolled up piece of paper (facing to the front) is quite loud just like when the paper is all funnelled up
Rolled up piece of paper (facing to the side) is less louder than before

Conclusion:
My hypothesis was right because the sound of the paper when it was straight it sounded normal and when it was funnelled up it was loud, very loud!
